“The idea of musically evoking a day or a life, with the birth of the day or of a being, simple words (Hello, Why?), the sounds of life, of birds, of celebration, of the serene and religious contemplation which precedes the twilight of the day or of existence, guided my inspiration to compose all the themes of “The Los Angeles Sessions”. With, always omnipresent, a deep feeling of love for music and the loved ones who accompany my life… Day after day.
Also, for the recording, I chose a “mythical” place: the “Capitol Records Studios” in Los Angeles, loaded with the still present vibrations of prestigious artists like Nat King Cole, Frank Sinatra, Count Basie, Quincy Jones… And many others who recorded most of their discography there. At the same time, I called on musicians I met throughout my musical travels: Charlie Haden (double bass), Gonzalo Rubalcaba (piano) and Mino Cinelu (drums, percussion).
Six days of concentration, shared passion, total immersion, far from any material landmark, for the production and creation of “The Los Angeles Sessions. –Richard Galliano
